Root Canal Therapy
A Root Canal, or Endodontic Therapy, can save a tooth when it is damaged by decay or injury and the pulp has become infected, causing severe pain. This treatment is the preferrable choice over tooth extraction, as extracting (pulling) a tooth will ultimately be more costly and cause significant problems for adjacent teeth.
A root canal painlessly removes infection from the tooth and restores normal function. Proper technique by the dentist is essential.
What are the signs that you may need a root canal?
- Swollen or tender gums
- Tooth discoloration
- Prolonged sensitivity to hot or cold temperatures
